Our Fabrics

The garments we sell are made from fabrics created with forward moving industry practices.

  • more sustainable resource materials
  • cleaner processing methods
  • recycling of waste materials
  • water use reduction

One or more of these characteristics can be found in each fabric.  Blending newer fibers with the traditional tried and true helps lead the way to more responsible manufacturing while maintaining the comfort and function customers expect.

Bamboo

Not only Pandas love Bamboo!  We love bamboo because this beautiful plant is both quick and clean to grow. Bamboo needs no pesticides or herbicides and little irrigation.  With it’s high level of photosynthesis bamboo grasses clean the air and, once cut, will grow back many times.

Rayon from Bamboo

Rayon from Bamboo is soft to the touch and highly absorbent. It adds comfort by wicking away moisture from the skin, leaving you cool and dry. With the draping look of silk, Rayon from Bamboo adds a luxurious look and feel to blends while retaining easy to care for, machine washable, practicality. Rayon from Bamboo is biodegradable and breaks down more quickly than cotton.

Hemp

Hemp is a renewable crop that is extremely fast growing.  Naturally pest resistant, hemp is biodegradable, easily recyclable, and requires little water to grow.  All good news for the environment!  Plus...hemp is a drought tolerant crop making it even easier to love here in California!

Hemp fibers create durable, breathable fabrics, that blend well with cotton to create comfortable, long lasting, and easy to care for garments. Having excellent heat capacity thus giving the fabric superior insulation properties, hemp blends will keep you cool in the heat and keep you warm in the cold .  Hemp fabrics block UV rays, are naturally fire retardant, and get softer with use.  ‘Hemp doesn’t wear out, it wears in!’

Lyocell

Made with wood pulp from sustainable eucalyptus tree farms, lyocell is both biodegradable and recyclable and uses environmentally friendly production practices.
All chemicals used in the making of lyocell are reclaimed, the vast majority of these being non-toxic, making it’s production a ‘closed loop’ process.  Lyocell fibers are breathable, absorbent, and comfortable.  Plus, like Cotton, Lyocell fabric is milled here in the USA.

Pandas love bamboo, but Koalas love eucalyptus - what more can we say!

Cotton

Who doesn’t love their cotton? Comfortably breathable, absorbent, strong fabric that is easy on the most sensitive skin, cotton is the world’s most commonly used textile.  Wrapped up in history, cotton has the romantic appeal of the Ancient Egyptians and Exotic regions of India, not to mention it’s integral role in the building of American.  How’s that for ‘globally inspired’?!

Organic Cotton is grown and fibers created without the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, insecticides or defoliants. It is soft and comfortable and blends well with other fibers. Organic cotton is much easier on the environment.

Recycled Cotton comes from discarded yarn and fabric. A more responsible production practice that helps to minimize waste within the garment industry, recycled cotton promotes the forward movement to cleaner textile manufacturing.

All cotton is commonly used in blends being easy to dye due to it’s white color and high absorbency. Cotton keeps the body cool in summer and warm in winter because it is a good conductor of heat.  And, everyone knows it’s super easy to wash and wear!

Akin to travel, working towards more environmentally sustainable products is a journey!  A cleaner fabric industry will grow with the momentum of consumer support. With each fabric we use, we aim to help responsible manufacturing take a step to further grow and thrive.

One small step each day gets you to the top of the mountain, yes?!
